Covid Update

By Len Ruddock

An important statement from IDCFL Chairman

I'm sure that we're all aware of the new Omicron variant of Covid and the possible implications upon our society and us individually. At the very least, Omicron appears to be more infectious than established variants. Whatever our personal views are, we as the IDCFL need to take precautionary steps to reduce the chances of the infection being spread.

Firstly, the existing government guidelines remain in place. So I remind you as teams, players/officials/supporters that anyone showing any symptoms should, as in other circumstances, not come to matches until clear. Also, please ensure you do check the guidelines for yourself.

So until further notice, we ask that the changing rooms are not used apart from use of the toilets.
Please use hand gel before and after games.
Teams to base themselves on opposite sides of the pitch.

This Saturday's (11th Dec) Team Talk, will be in the open air outside the changing rooms, starting as usual at 8.55am. Hot drinks will be provided.
The Cup matches, scheduled for 18th are postponed until 8th January; 2022, ie our first week back after the Christmas break. (Details on this website to be updated shortly.)

Also, if anyone in your team has become infected, all 14 Team Reps have been asked to ensure that all players from the affected team are tested and results confirmed as negative before playing a match. Of course, any late postponements will be viewed sympathetically by the League's Management Committee.
All Team Reps have been asked to contact the League Chairman should there be any concerns about playing matches. All discussions will be kept in confidence.

This reflects the concerns that have been expressed to the League Chairman and at this stage, so long as everyone observes their duties to be Covid aware, playing matches in the open air is an acceptable practice.

Of course, all of this could easily change, once further scientific details about Omicron come to light and are enacted upon by the government.

Thank You and let's enjoy our sport.
